The Ketchum and Sun Valley Area has many mountain bike trails -- stop by the Sawtooth National Recreation Area (SNRA) headquarters north of Ketchum for good local information, and to purchase trail books and trail passes. For easy hikes, I recommend the Trail Creek area and Corral Creek, especially in the fall when the Aspens are changing color. Mountain bikers and hikers both should check out Adams Gulch just north of town. Another pleasant, easy hike is the lower two miles of Murdoch Gulch, about a mile up the North Fork of the Wood River. The Murdoch Gulch campground is our favorite place to stay in the Sun Valley area.
The Greenhorn Gulch to Mahoney creek mountain bike loop gives wonderful views of Mount Baldy (the Sun Valley Ski Resort) and the Pioneer Mountains. The trail follows a surprisingly verdant valley, considering the dry climate of Sun Valley. On the descent into Mahoney Creek you'll pass some gigantic old Douglas Fir trees. This is a very difficult trail.
