HardGuyDryCreek

The Hard Guy Dry Creek Loop is an Expert mountain bike ride just north of Boise, Idaho. Up Hard Guy Ridge and down Dry Creek Canyon. Starting at the Crane Creek Market, this is a 22 mile mountain bike loop for expert riders only up Hard Guy, across the face of Boise Peak and down Dry Creek. This trip is very hard on both bikes and bodies because of the many crossings of Dry Creek and the unmaintained trail.

Follow the Corrals Trail for 1.3 miles before turning at the Corral into Stewart Gulch.

HARD GUY (track)

Hard Guy. A short descent into Stewart Gulch folling a cow path, cross the creek, and then follow the jeep trail turned singletrack up to the Boise Ridge Road for a total climb of 2000 feet in 4.74 miles. (Very hot in the summer.)

Usually these desert hills are not this green.

HGTOP

Gorillas in the Mist. Hard Guy ends at the Boise Ridge Road. Rest here and eat a good lunch, because the downhill trail on Dry Creek is almost as strenuous as the climb just past.

RIDGEROAD (track)

Travel exactly two miles along the Boise Ridge Road to reach Dry Creek.

Dry Creek (track)

Dry Creek never goes dry, even in middle of a seven-year drought. Many creek crossing make this lots of fun but a bit messy. Allow lots of time, because this is a very strenuous downhill. 3 out of 6 bikes experienced chain suck on this trip, and 2 out of 6 riders came back with minor injuries involving loss of blood. This area is becoming very popular, and we saw a few hikers up near the old growth forest and many down in the rocky canyon.

Down to Dry Creek. Watch out for Wild Turkeys.

The upper part of dry creek goes through old growth forest.

Forest Trail
Yes, this is the trail. Dry Creek is never actually Dry.
