PAPAGO PARK TRAIL GUIDE
0.87 Miles of single track fun. The many little whoop-de-doos on this trail had my 7 year old daughter shouting with joy on the trailerbike behind. This is a challenging but fun trail for advanced beginner mountain bikers.
Loop around the little Papago Butte with the Monkey Face. Another fun singletrack for advanced beginner mountain bikers.
Service Road to Butte Loops. For you people who bought mountain bikes but dislike riding on dirt trails, here's a nice scenic 1 mile section of smooth road without traffic.
To make an easy three mile loop, bike over to the hole in the rock, along the Arizona Cross Cut Canal behind the Desert Botanical Gardnes north to McDowell, across the Galvin Parkway at the traffic light, and then along the trail back to the big butte.
2 1/2 mile mountain bike loop around the Papago Park Golf Course. This is a good, safe route for beginning mountain bikers. 2.2 miles.
Galvin Parkway. South of Mill / Van Buren in Tempe, the Galvin Parkway is Priest Road. North of McDowell, and Papago Park, the Galvin Parkway is known as road 64th St.
Low traffic way to get to the Hole in the Rock from the Papago Park trailhead. (If you go to Papago Park and take your kids to the Hole in the Rock they will love you and take care of you in your old age.)
Comment - Park across from Zoo
Description - The Papago Park trailhead is right across from the Phoenix Zoo. Instead of turning east into the Zoo, turn west to the trailhead.

Comment - Hole in the Rock
Description - Hole in the Rock. Reach the Cave easily by walking in through the hole in the rock from the wast instead of climbing the Butte from the west.
